General Information

The Oconto County Parks Department operates 6 parks, 9 boat landings, cooperates with 2 cross country ski clubs / trails, bridal trail, 6 fishing facilities for those physically challenged, operates and maintains 8 dams, contracts for the maintenance of and inspects 426 miles of snowmobile trails and 62 miles of ATV trails.

The 110 acre Chute Pond Park was established in 1935. The campground has 112 sites for tents and trailers and is open year round. Chute Pond has 600 acres of lake with a maximum depth of 15 feet, 4 miles of shoreline, public swimming, boat rental, good fishing, ice-bait-tackle, hiking trails, playground, showers, and flush toilets. Chute Pond Dam was built about 1852 to store water for logging drives down the Oconto River. In 1934-37 the old wooden chute dam was replaced with the present dam. The 85 acre North Bay Shore Park is located on Green Bay. It provides a 34 site campground with flush toilets, showers, pit toilets, all electrical sites, and boat landing for excellent fishing, playground, pavilion, volleyball, horseshoe, and basketball.
