General Information

The Oconto County Courthouse has two Circuit Court Branches and a Family Court Hearing room. It is the duty of the Security Deputy to monitor the activity of these three court rooms and the hallways and offices that support them, as well as protect all court personnel, employees, and citizens.

He is to investigate any safety concerns, suspicious activity, or law violations, and take the appropriate action necessary to resolve the situation. He also enforces any rules the court has established, to maintain order in the court rooms.

The Security Deputy arranges for about 650 inmates to be at their appointed court hearings annually, and guards and protects the inmate in a criminal case, and prevents his escape, and escorts another 250 inmates to their bond hearings. He also makes arrangements for additional personnel and security for all criminal trials.

The Security Deputy also makes any recommendations for increased security, equipment, or repairs, and files a quarterly report with the Court Security/ Facilities Committee of Oconto County.
