It's important for recreational water enthusiasts to remember the basics to preventing the spread of AIS:
Inspect and Remove all visible mud, plants, fish/animals, drain all water from motors, jet drives, live wells, boat hulls, scuba tanks and regulators, boots, waders, bait buckets, seaplane floats, and swimming floats, clean and dry your equipment, the best way to make sure that you are not transporting AIS is to wash your equipment with warm or salt water to kill anything that may be living on your equipment or let your equipment sit in the sun and dry for five days before your next trip to a new water body
Do not release or put plants, fish or animals into a body of water unless they came out of that body of water. This includes minnows from bait shops and any aquarium pets or plants. Please place in trash or compost.
