Mission Statement

What is public health?

Public Health prevents disease and protects the health of a community.

We do this by:

   • Immunizing against diseases like polio, measles, mumps and whooping cough.

   • Teaching parents and caregivers of children correct car seat use, and providing car seats to children.

   • Ensuring that mothers and young children are eating nutritious food through the WIC program.

   • Providing preventive dental services to children at their school.

   • Responding to disease outbreaks such as H1N1.

   • Preventing lead poisoning in children.
