New Beginnings Store and Training Center

New Beginnings is a resale store that relies on the generous donations from the community. It offers unique, slightly used items. If you are looking for items at a good price, whether it is clothes, books, antiques, furniture, etc., we have what you are looking for.

New Beginnings however, is more than a retail store. It is also a training center that provides opportunities to individuals that will help them learn, grow, and be productive members of the community. Computers are available with internet access that allow the individual to perform job searches, create resumes etc.

The following programs are currently being offered:



COMMUNITY RESOURCE EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM

The Community Resource Emplowerment Program provides support to adults in a population of need within Oconto County. Program goals are to empower individuals one step at a time to become self-sufficient, independent adults through retaining employment, establishing housing, obtaining health-care benefits and becoming taxpaying residents.

Target populations include:
  • offenders in/out of prison
  • non-custodial, unemployed parents
  • individuals with AODA
  • individuals with mental health challenges
  • victims of domestic abuse/sexual abuse
  • individuals with a disability/involved with DVR
  • homeless or at-risk of homeless
  • at-risk Vetarans
Services provided include:
  • career/work assessments
  • job search assistance
  • help with resume/cover letter creation
  • further education/training assistance
  • Certified Marketplace Counseling
  • case coordination and referral to resources and supports
  • application assistance for healthcare.gov or access.wi.gov to obtain health insurance

EMPLOYMENT & HOUSING

This program shares the same goals as the Community Resource Empowerment Program.

Target populations include:
  • homeless or at-risk of homeless
  • severe poverty
  • offenders in/out of prison
  • individuals with AODA or mental health challenges
  • non-custodial, unemployed parents
  • individuals with a disability/involved with DVR
Services provided include, but not limited to:
  • budgeting classes
  • educational assessments
  • goal setting
  • job searches
  • resume building & cover letter writing
  • mock interviews
  • college/technical tours
  • mental health counseling
  • budgeting course

Y.E.P. (YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM)

Y.E.P. is an open program specifically designed for youth ages 14-21. Program goals are to help youth to be prepared and successful in the working world. While a student is in school, this program will help support their academics (if needed), as well as provide a place to connect with employers, mentors and community resources.

Activities and opportunities include:
  • job shadows
  • company tours
  • mock interviews
  • volunteer projects
  • guest speakers
  • field trips
  • skills training
