January 15, 2015 - 2015 Town of Riverview Newsletter
New this Year:
With hard work fundraising and generous donations from community members, we continued to make upgrades to the new pavilion that was constructed in 2014. The funds were used to build a bar and a food serving area and the inside was finished with insulation and wallboard. We are currently working on the purchase of a wireless sound system for the pavilion. The pavilion is available for rent and has had several events already.
We continued to apply for and receive funding in 2015 from the DNR for the brush site locations. We will continue to apply for funding in 2016. We encourage Riverview landowners to take home composted materials from the brush site for their gardens, flower beds, etc. We will be expanding the Crooked Lake Recycling Center to provide additional room for the collection of brush. We will also be constructing bins for the collection of leaves/pine needles which will be decomposed into a rich soil for use in gardens, flower beds, etc. As the decomposition is a 5-year process, we will deliver a load from our existing site for the Crooked Lake community to use. Collection hours for 2016 will be posted on our webpage and on the gate of the Crooked Lake site when we are able to provide this service. No brush or leaves will be collected until the public is formally notified.
Winter is fast approaching. We are hoping for a good winter for ice skating. Volunteers are needed to hand out ice skates and make hot chocolate for the skaters on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 3:00pm when the ice rinks are open. If you are available to help out, please contact (715) 850-1473.
